Overview:
“Their sound was muddy”. “I didn’t understand a word the lead singer said”. “It didn’t seem very loud but my ears are ringing and I have a headache.” “The guitar was just a mush of noise.” Have you ever left a performance with these thoughts? Don’t blame the band, it is almost certain that it is the sound system at fault. In this workshop you will hear bad vs good sound systems, learn why some systems sound bad. After completing this workshop you will understand how to evaluate professional audio sound equipment cost/weight/size/sound trade-offs.
This workshop includes both a theory and a hands-on component. We will talk about speakers, amplifiers, processing racks, mixing boards, cabling, lights, and AC power. If you are a performer and want to sound better, this workshop is for you! Special bonus: Rahul Virk, Manager of Neighbours Pub, presents live music every Friday night. Mr. Virk will speak briefly about what he looks for when booking acts and what you need to do to impress his audience.
