On July 4th the City of West Kelowna’s Music in the Park, presented by RE/MAX, welcomes Sherman Doucette and the Tank Full of Blues and Cat Wells Blues Band.
Opening: Cat Wells Blues Band | Blues
Cat Wells is a Canadian blues singer, songwriter, and performer known for her raw, soulful vocals and energetic stage presence. Her voice has been compared to Susan Tedeschi, Beth Hart, and Janis Joplin. Influenced by early icons like Billie Holiday and Etta James, she blends blues with funky, syncopated rhythms.
Cat has earned recognition as Vocalist of the Year twice by the Okanagan Arts Council and has been featured in Okanagan Life and Wild Life Magazines. She and her band have performed at major festivals such as White Rock Blues and Beaches Blues, and were recently invited to Memphis for the Women in Blues Showcase.
Her discography includes three albums: “Cathy-Ann Wells Live,” “Bootleg Blues,” and “Brand New Shoes” (2025), featuring collaborations with talented artists. Her latest release is gaining radio play on over 70 stations. She’s currently working on new music, continuing to make waves in the blues world.
Headlining: Sherman Doucette and the Tank Full of Blues | Blues
Sherman Doucette, born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, grew up immersed in family music — his Dad on guitar and banjo, his grandfather on harmonica, and family singing and dancing. In 1969, he hitchhiked to Vancouver with a friend, eager to pursue music, playing in bars and absorbing every chance to learn. Inspired by legendary blues artists, including John Lee Hooker, he developed his distinctive style and performed extensively. In 1977, a devastating explosion and severe burns nearly ended his career, but he recovered and continued to perform, forming influential bands like Incognito and Sherman Doucette and His Tankful of Blues. As a versatile musician, he’s backed famous artists, appeared on TV, and contributed to commercials. An avid collector, Doucette boasts a vast collection of over 700 antique harmonicas, reflecting his lifelong passion. His rhythmic energy and resilience make him a prominent figure in the blues scene.
Music in the Park, a program of the City of West Kelowna, is presented by RE/MAX and the line up is produced by Creative Okanagan.
