Karen Chhabra

Director

Karen Chhabra is a community-rooted creative, clinical counsellor, and educator based in Kelowna, BC. As a board member with Creative Okanagan, her work is grounded in building equitable music spaces that feel intentional, connected, and reflective of the communities they exist within.

Since 2024, she has been a Local Producer with Sofar Sounds Kelowna, curating intimate shows that center connection, discovery, and good energy. Her approach to curation is thoughtful and relational, working alongside IBPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ artists and communities in ways that feel real and grounded. Karen was also involved with Sofar Sounds Vancouver from 2018 to 2019, where she began developing her lens on community-based music experiences and artist-centered programming.
Alongside her work in music, Karen brings over a decade of experience in clinical social work and mental health. She has developed and facilitated workshops for musicians and creatives that explore burnout, sustainability, and care within the music industry. Her work sits at the intersection of wellness and creativity, with a strong commitment to anti-oppressive practice and the belief that music spaces can hold both joy and care at the same time.

Karen is known for creating spaces that feel warm and rooted in connection. Across all of her roles, she is committed to equitable opportunity, community, and supporting artists in ways that feel meaningful, sustainable, and grounded in good energy.
